YAC Grantmaking

The Kellogg Youth Endowment Fund was created to engage youth in philanthropy, address the needs of local youth, and support effective community service throughout Houghton and Keweenaw Counties.

With funds available from the Kellogg Youth Endowment Fund, members of YAC participate in youth grantmaking to support youth needs in Houghton and Keweenaw Counties.

YAC members identify youth needs, solicit grant proposals, and make funding recommendations to the Foundation’s Board of Advisors. Over the years, thousands of dollars in grants have been awarded to local programs and projects that serve young people across the region.

Our Next Generation of Philanthropists

The purpose of the KCF Youth Advisory Council Operations Fund is to have a source of income for our Youth Advisory Council. Funds may be used to allow students to attend leadership development conferences and have the resources necessary to manage the operations of the council and the Kellogg Youth Endowment Fund.

“What makes YAC special for me is the opportunities for involvement within my community. This is done through sharing youth voices and opinions, but also through hands-on involvement, which many local organizations lack. Overall, I think this is a valuable experience that helps youth see the importance of philanthropic work.”

— Callie Knuuttila,YAC President (2024-2026)
