Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds: Keweenaw 5K and Public Safety Day Returns July 12
2024 Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds 5K
The Keweenaw Community Foundation is excited to support the upcoming Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds: Keweenaw 5K and Public Safety Day, happening Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Mohawk Park in Keweenaw County.
This family-friendly event is more than just a race. It’s a community-wide effort to raise awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention. The day begins with a 5K run/walk open to all ages and fitness levels, followed by a kids’ dash for children eight and under. After the races, the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office will host their Public Safety Day, featuring free hot dogs, prize drawings, emergency vehicle tours, demonstrations, and activities for all ages.
Event Schedule:
9:00 AM – Packet and T-shirt pickup
10:00 AM – 5K begins
Following the 5K – Kids’ Dash (ages 8 and under)
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM – Public Safety Day activities
12:00 PM – Prize drawings
Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female 5K finishers and the top three kids’ dash participants. Participants must register by June 15 to guarantee a race T-shirt. T-shirts are included with 5K registration while supplies last. Not running? Support the cause by purchasing a shirt for $20 or making a donation.
All proceeds benefit Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds (KS4HM), a Special Community Project of the Keweenaw Community Foundation dedicated to advancing mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting suicide prevention efforts.
We invite you to walk, run, cheer, or volunteer and help us shine a light on mental health. Together, we can build a healthier, more connected community.
