The Nature Conservancy in Michigan (TNC) is holding a Keweenaw Heartlands Project Update on Tuesday, October 21st, to share the latest on Heartlands project developments. During the meeting, TNC will provide information about ongoing activities and community-based planning that will lead to the transition of the Keweenaw Heartlands forest into public ownership. Project partners from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and members of the 29+ member Heartlands Community Advisory Committee will be present to share insights and answer questions as well.

The Michigan House of Representatives passed the amendments to the Michigan Recreational Authorities Act by an overwhelming majority of 96-2. House Bill 4694 and House Bill 4695, along with House Bill 4798, have now moved to the Senate. They are currently assigned to the Senate Committee on Local Government for consideration.
