Academic Achievement, Financial Need, and Parish Involvement

The Richard and Clara Fedewa Scholarship is available to female high school graduates who are members of the St. Ignatius Loyola parish seeking to further their education at a college or trade school. Awards are based on academic achievement, need, and parish/community involvement.

 
The roots of the Catholic Church in the Portage Lake area are associated with Bishop Frederic Baraga, “the Snowshoe Priest,” who dedicated the original St. Ignatius Loyola Church on July 31, 1859.

AWARDS

Donor Deborah Fedewa with the 2022 awardees Tiia Wickstrom, Elise Polkinghorne, and Kami Klein.

  • The 2022 recipients are Houghton High School graduates Tiia Wickstrom and Elise Polkinghorne, and Hancock High School graduate Kami Klein.

  • The 2019 Scholarship was awarded to Arianna Pugh.
