Attend the next Keweenaw Heartlands Project Update Meeting
The Keweenaw Heartlands Project’s next public update meeting will take place Thursday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Allouez Community Center (388 Bumbletown Rd, Allouez, MI 49805). During the meeting, The Nature Conservancy, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and members of the Heartlands Community Advisory Committee will provide information about ongoing activities and community-based planning that will lead to the transition of the Keweenaw Heartlands forest into public ownership. We look forward to seeing you there!
Save the Date: Friday, June 5, 2026
The Keweenaw Community Foundation is teaming up with the Keweenaw Heartlands Community Advisory Committee to host For the Heartlands, a fundraiser dinner and concert in support of the Keweenaw Heartlands Forest Fund. This fund, held by the Keweenaw Community Foundation, will cover the early costs of launching a publicly owned, locally governed community forest.
For the Heartlands will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Hidden Pines Barn in Calumet. Welcome the start of summer in your favorite Yooper attire with a cold one in hand. We’re planning an evening of good food, refreshing drinks, and live music from The Go Rounds. Bid on silent auction items featuring only the most “Keweenaw” of local experiences and connect with community members involved in the Keweenaw Heartlands project to learn more about the future of this forest. Tickets will be available to purchase online in early May at bit.ly/4heartlands-tickets – we hope you can make it!
